Hardware and Lifecycle Requirements for Secure PROFINET Devices
- This paper provides background information for developers that plan to build devices supporting PROFINET security. It starts with a brief introduction to PROFINET security. After that hardware requirements for secure PROFINET devices are introduced. To allow the selection of a suitable processor, three sample microprocessors are evaluated with respect to their performance by executing the cryptographic algorithms selected for PROFINET. The paper then looks at the hardware-related requirements of the IEC 62443-4-2 and how to fulfill them. The topic PROFINET certification closes the paper.
