Entwurf eines Soll-Prozessmodells für die Verwaltung von Herbarbelegen im Botanischen Garten/Botanischen Museum in Berlin-Dahlem

Concept of a reference process model for the administration of herbal pages in the botanical garden/ botanical museum in Berlin-Dahlem

  • The research paper composes a reference process model for the administration of herbal pages in the botanical garden/ botanical museum in Berlin-Dahlem within the research project "Herbar Digital". Guidance for the establishment of the reference model is provided by the documented business processes. The actual processes are adjusted in accordance to the first stage of expansion of "Herbar Digital" to reduce the costs of the digitalisation of herbal pages. The optimization of business processes is based on the Kanban method that serves to manage the process. The observation of the value added chain diagram shows that incoming plants are stored after the assembly in the general Herbar. If required, the pages are collected for the digitalisation and afterwards stored again or lent. If new herbal pages are digitalized without advance storage, activities like freezing, in and out storing as well as transport time would be economized. From this capability of optimization results the reference model of the main processes "execute entrance" and "digitalize herbal pages" as well as their supporting processes. After that, the capability is quantified. It shows that 1.2 labour can be saved.
