GraFLAP Exercise Editor
- GraFLAP grades automata, machines, grammars, and regular expressions submitted as JFLAP files or plain text and is connected to Moodle via the middleware Grappa and the question type MooPT. Until now, authoring a new GraFLAP exercise required detailed knowledge of the grader itself and a fair amount of manual work, which kept most instructors from writing their own tasks. We present the GraFLAP Exercise Editor, a standalone Java application that lets instructors create GraFLAP tasks in ProFormA format (and finally in questions in Moodle XML format) from a sample solution in JFLAP together with a few task-specific settings, without any insider knowledge of the grader. The editor covers automata, grammars, and machines, generates the accepted or rejected example words automatically where needed, and supports randomized task variants.
